A production cel from the Fleischer Studios second full-length animated film "Mr. Bug Goes to Town" (1941). Featuring an adorable image of Hoppity helping Mr. Bumble out of a puddle, the hand-painted cel was created at the studio and used during the animation process. The cel is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the film. Grim Natwick, American animator and artist, has signed an additional cel layer in marker near the top right corner, to accompany the cel. Natwick is best known for his creation of Betty Boop, and has worked for many animation studios during his illustrious career, including Walt Disney Animation Studios, UPA, Ub Iwerks, and Walter Lantz Productions. At the Disney Studio, Natwick was tasked with the design and animation of the first Disney Princess, Snow White. Measuring 8.5"x11" overall, with the character image measuring 4.5"x9.5" on the slightly trimmed cel, the piece is in very good condition, likely restored by a previous owner, and displays light surface wear, minor curling, slight adhesive residue throughout, and age-related discoloration. The signed blank cel is measures 10"x12" overall with the signature measuring 2.5"x3.25".
